Twice a year fashion week descends upon New York, London, Milan and Paris in a whirlwind of clothes, lavish dinners and even more lavish parties. Whether you happen to be part of the fashion cognoscenti or simply crashing a party or two, refueling with healthy, fulfilling food is essential. Herewith are a couple of our favorites.
Cafe Clover , New York City
Cafe Clover opened in the West Village earlier this year and assumed popular status immediately. Chef David Standridge created the menu alongside a nutritionist so the dishes are health conscious, comprised of locally sourced organic ingredients and taste delicious. The dinner menu includes inventive vegetarian options such as Cauliflower “Steak” as well as Quinoa Tagliatelle.
Santina, New York City
The Carbone and Torrisi team has struck the right chord yet again. Santina is an Italian restaurant where the menu is vegetable and seafood as opposed to pasta heavy. You can start with their signature Giardinia Crudite that is full of colorful vegetables and then enjoy one of the fish entree options such as Bass Agrigento or Swordfish Dogana. Santina is located underneath the High Line in the Meatpacking District, which makes it a great Fashion Week spot.
Jack’s Wife Freda, New York City
With two downtown locations, this is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner with a friend. It’s especially popular around lunchtime but it is well worth the wait to experience the mediterranean dishes like Green Shashuka, Chicken Prego or Soy Glazed Fish a la Plancha. There are plenty of healthy options available – salads, eggs, grilled meats and fish options.
Cafe Pinson, Paris
Well appointed, with a light and cheerful vibe, it provides an ideal setting for a healthy lunch. The food is all vegetarian and gluten free, and there are a host of fresh juices which are a major plus when you’re trying to detox from those late, fashion week party filled nights.
Although its name may sound unappealing, Blah offers nutritious and tasty options to keep you energized throughout the day. There are a number of vegetarian options available as well.
Banana Tree, London
The Banana Tree has multiple locations throughout London and offers a plethora of Indochinese gluten free options. Some of the locations offer delivery services if you are on-the-go and need a quick dinner option for a group!
