WellPath Inspiration: Diane von Furstenberg

<"There's design, and there's art. Good design is total harmony. There's no better designer than nature - if you look at a branch or a leaf, it's perfect. It's all function." - Diane Von Furstenberg

her claim to fame

Most well known for the wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg created a movement in women’s fashion.  Diane’s style of dresses were extremely well received; the brand sold over a million dresses in only two years. The silhouette has remained true to itself but has been updated in a host of different colors and patterns.  Diane von Furstenberg’s wrap dress is classic and represents the working woman.

Why She Inspires Us

Diane designed the wrap dress in the mid 1970s when she was the wife of Prince Egon of Furstenberg.  You have to respect and admire a woman who was a princess and was about establishing a career for herself, especially during a time when there weren’t as many women in the workplace as there are today.   Diane took the fashion world by storm; however, she took a break and when she returned she was not as well received so she had to rebuild her brand, but never strayed from her image. Not only did she rebuild her apparel brand but she expanded into many more categories.  In addition, she is the President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and she remains actively involved in multiple charities ranging from mentorship to saving the High Line in New York City. She was recently named one of Forbes Most Powerful Women as well as TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.
