5 Perfect Protein Shakes

For some of us, it’s time to head off to some exotic locale – hopefully with ample sun (though you’re your sunblock!) and beaches as far as the eye can see. For others we may be staying closer to home, a mercifully short drive to the nearby lake with the family. Either way, spice up your trip and step up your health with these easy, exotic recipes that will have you convinced that, at least in spirit, you’re on the shores of the Maldives.

1. Green “Easy Breezy” Smoothie

The Skinny

Prepared correctly this perfect protein shake will take on a light green hue. The cilantro and ginger will give the protein shake a bit of a kick in the taste department though it should be balanced by the sweetness from the kiwi and the WellPath shake mix. The cilantro and ginger both yield considerable digestive benefits, something one always places a premium on during the summer when some near unavoidable cheat meals have a tendency to pop up more often than during the rest of the year. The cucumber will top things off to help the protein shake retain that uniquely refreshing feel. Perfect after a long day on the beach.

The Goods

½ cucumber, chopped

1 kiwi, peeled

1 tbsp cilantro leaves

½ cup non-fat plain Greek Yogurt

1 cup unflavored almond milk

1 tsp fresh ginger

4 ice cubes

1 scoop Vanilla WellPath Shake Mix

The Skinny

So named because of its rich color, its unparalleled ability to quell a fiery meal and its hydrating quality. This great protein shake recipe goes perfectly as a healthy alternative to dessert after some spicy exotic cuisine. This simple protein shake recipe takes only minutes to make, making it one of the most convenient on our list. The orange flavor water can be a bit of a challenge to get ahold of – but if you have a local gourmet grocery store there is a good chance they will carry it or something similar.

The Goods

1 cup chopped pealed mango

1/3 cup peach kefir

½ cup nonfat vanilla greek yogurt

1 scoop Vanilla WellPath Shake Mix

4 ice cubes

Optional: 1/8 teaspoon orange-flower water

3. Silky Tropical Tofu Blend

The Skinny

Tofu in a smoothie? You bet. While we are always wary of not including too much soy in the diet, we are also big advocates that there is a time and a place for (nearly) everything. Tofu does function as a great source of protein, iron and calcium. During the summer when our activity is at a high point. Further, the tofu helps give the smoothie that perfect consistency that will leave you convinced it is closer to a piña colada than a protein packed nutritional powerhouse.

The Goods

¾ cup silken tofu

¼ cup nonfat plain greek yogurt

2 cups frozen mango

½ cup frozen pineapple

¼ cup lime juice

1 cup almond milk

5 ice cubes

1 scoop Vanilla WellPath Shake Mix

4. The Works
